This Kyocera 0.90mm (.0354") chip breaker carbide PCB router features a 6.50mm (.256") length of cut, drill-point tip, up-cut spiral, 1/8" shank, and 1.50" overall length. Manufactured from solid tungsten carbide, it is designed for precision routing of FR-4, G10, fiberglass, phenolic laminates, and other rigid composite materials.

Part of Kyocera's Series 2300 Chipbreaker Updraft Router family, this tool features interrupted cutting edges that divide chips into smaller pieces during machining. The chip breaker geometry helps promote effective chip evacuation and controlled routing in abrasive PCB laminates.

Chip Breaker Geometry and Drill-Point Tip

  • Spiral chip breaker geometry: Interrupted cutting edges help produce smaller chips and reduce chip accumulation in the cutting area.
  • Up-cut flute direction: Directs chips upward and away from the cutting zone, supporting efficient chip evacuation.
  • Drill-point tip: Provides a pointed entry geometry for controlled plunge entry and subsequent routing operations when appropriate cutting parameters are used.
  • 6.50mm (.256") length of cut: Provides additional cutting reach for deeper profiles and thicker laminates compared with shorter-flute routers of the same diameter.
  • Solid carbide construction: Provides rigidity and wear resistance for precision cutting in abrasive materials.

The drill-point configuration is useful when a routing operation requires controlled entry into the material. However, at only 0.90mm diameter, this precision tool must be used with appropriate plunge feeds, rigid workholding, and minimal spindle runout. Avoid aggressive plunging or excessive lateral loading.

Prefer a fish-tail tip? Our R150 Kyocera 0.90mm Fish-Tail Chip Breaker Router → offers the same cutting diameter with a shorter 5.00mm (.197") LOC. It is an alternative for appropriate PCB profiling and through-cutting applications.

Typical Applications

  • PCB outline routing and circuit board profiling
  • FR-4 and G10 fiberglass-reinforced laminates
  • Phenolic laminate cutting
  • Precision routing of rigid fiberglass sheets
  • Narrow slots and detailed internal cutouts
  • Controlled plunge-entry operations in suitable composite materials
  • Selected carbon fiber composite routing applications

For carbon fiber and highly abrasive composites: Uncoated carbide may be suitable for selected cutting operations, but extended machining of abrasive materials can accelerate tool wear. For demanding production work, consider a suitable diamond-coated router with the required cutting diameter, length, and geometry.

Feeds, Speeds and Tool Handling

For machining guidance, refer to our Chip Breaker Router Feed & Speed Chart →.

The chart includes a 0.90mm (.0354") chip breaker router entry. These values are general starting recommendations, not guaranteed settings for every machine or cutting operation. Adjust the parameters for the material, extended 6.50mm flute length, spindle runout, workholding, tool condition, and cutting engagement.

Use rigid workholding and controlled plunge entry. Avoid excessive lateral loading, aggressive plunging, and unsupported cutting conditions that can lead to deflection or tool breakage.

Sold individually. Price is per router bit.
