Choosing Length of Cut / LOC: LOC is the usable cutting length of the router bit. Use the Length of Cut / LOC filter to narrow tools by required cutting depth.

  • Through-cutting sheet material: choose an LOC longer than the material thickness.
  • Grooves, slots, pockets, or partial-depth cuts: choose an LOC deep enough for the required cut depth.
  • Small diameters: long cutting lengths are more fragile and may not be practical for deep, narrow cuts, especially in fiberglass, G10, FR-4, carbon fiber, and other abrasive materials.
