This Kyocera 1.00mm (.0394") chip breaker carbide PCB router features a .250" length of cut (approximately 6.35mm), drill-point tip, up-cut spiral, 1/8" shank, and 1.50" overall length. Made from solid tungsten carbide, this precision router is designed for routing FR-4, G10, fiberglass, phenolic laminates, and other rigid composite materials.
The spiral chip breaker geometry incorporates interrupted cutting edges that divide chips into smaller pieces during machining. This design helps improve chip control and evacuation when routing abrasive PCB laminates under appropriate cutting conditions.
Chip Breaker Geometry and Drill-Point Tip
- Spiral chip breaker cutting edges: Help break chips into smaller fragments and reduce chip accumulation in the cutting zone.
- Up-cut flute direction: Directs chips upward and away from the cutting area, supporting effective chip evacuation.
- Drill-point tip: Provides pointed entry geometry for controlled plunge-entry operations using suitable cutting parameters.
- .250" cutting length: Provides useful reach for PCB profiling, narrow slots, and routing thicker laminates within the tool's cutting capacity.
- Solid tungsten carbide: Offers rigidity and wear resistance when machining abrasive composite materials.
The drill-point configuration is useful when a routing operation requires controlled entry into the workpiece before lateral cutting. At this small diameter, rigid workholding, minimal spindle runout, and appropriate plunge feeds are important to help prevent tool breakage.
For a fish-tail alternative in the same 1.00mm diameter, see our R152 Kyocera Chip Breaker PCB Router →. R152 features a fish-tail tip and a listed .256" length of cut.

Typical Applications
- PCB outline routing and circuit board profiling
- FR-4 and G10 fiberglass-reinforced laminates
- Phenolic laminate cutting
- Precision slots and detailed PCB contours
- Routing of rigid fiberglass and composite sheets
- Controlled plunge-entry operations in suitable PCB materials
- Selected carbon fiber composite routing applications
Carbon fiber and highly abrasive materials: Uncoated carbide may be used for selected cutting operations, but prolonged machining of abrasive composites can accelerate cutting-edge wear. For demanding production applications, consider an appropriately sized diamond-coated router.

Feeds, Speeds and Tool Handling
For general machining recommendations, see our Chip Breaker Router Feed & Speed Chart →.
The chart includes an entry for 1.00mm (.0394") chip breaker routers. The published settings are general starting values and should be adjusted for the material, spindle speed capability, machine rigidity, workholding, tool runout, cutting depth, and tool condition.
Use rigid workholding, controlled cutting engagement, and conservative entry conditions. Avoid aggressive plunging or excessive lateral loading that could cause tool deflection or breakage.
Sold individually. Price is per router bit.
