Best for: Acrylic, polycarbonate, PVC, ABS, and other plastic materials

This 0.0625" (1/16") x .394" LOC single-flute carbide end mill is designed for clean machining of acrylic, plastics, and polymer materials. The single-flute geometry provides excellent chip evacuation, helping reduce heat buildup and prevent melting while producing smooth edge finishes.

The tool features a 60° high-helix flute with chip-breaking geometry that allows higher feed rates while maintaining excellent surface quality. The longer .394" flute length is useful for profile cuts, slotting, and routing in plastic sheet materials.

Key Features

  • 1/16" cutting diameter with .394" length of cut
  • Single-flute design optimized for plastic machining
  • Excellent chip evacuation reduces heat buildup
  • 60° high-helix flute for smooth cutting action
  • Right-hand upcut flute helps pull chips upward and out of the cut
  • Produces clean edges in acrylic and plastics
  • Fish tail tip supports light plunging and clean entry in suitable materials
  • 1/8" shank for use in compatible CNC routers, spindles, and collets
  • Solid carbide construction for long tool life

Typical Applications

  • CNC cutting of acrylic sheet
  • Plastic routing and profile cutting
  • Sign making
  • Polycarbonate machining
  • ABS and PVC cutting
  • Deeper slotting or contour cuts in plastic sheet materials

Single-flute end mills are widely used for machining plastics because the large flute space allows chips to evacuate quickly. This reduces heat buildup and helps prevent melting while maintaining clean edges.

Note: For best results in plastics, use feed rates that keep the tool cutting instead of rubbing. Too slow of a feed rate can increase heat and may cause melting, especially in acrylic and other soft plastics.
