This Kyocera 0.80mm (.0315") chip breaker carbide PCB router features a 5.00mm (.197") length of cut, drill-point tip, up-cut spiral, and 1/8" shank. Manufactured from solid tungsten carbide, it is designed for precision routing of FR-4, G10, fiberglass, phenolic laminates, and other rigid composite materials.
The tool is part of Kyocera's Series 2300 Chipbreaker Updraft Router family. Its segmented cutting edges help break chips into smaller pieces, supporting efficient chip removal and controlled cutting in abrasive PCB materials.
Chip Breaker Geometry and Up-Cut Design
- Spiral chip breaker geometry: Interrupted cutting edges help produce smaller chips and reduce chip accumulation during routing.
- Up-cut flute direction: Moves chips upward and away from the cutting zone, helping improve chip evacuation.
- Drill-point tip: Provides a pointed cutting end for controlled plunge entry when using appropriate machining parameters.
- 5mm (.197") flute length: Offers useful cutting reach for PCB profiling, slots, and routing of suitably supported laminate materials.
- Solid carbide construction: Delivers rigidity and wear resistance for precision machining of abrasive composites.
The up-cut design is especially useful where chip evacuation is important. As with other up-cut routers, appropriate workpiece support and cutting conditions are necessary to control lifting, burr formation, and edge damage.

Typical Applications
- PCB outline routing and circuit board profiling
- FR-4 and G10 fiberglass-reinforced laminates
- Phenolic laminate cutting
- Precision slots and narrow internal cutouts
- Machining of rigid fiberglass and composite sheets
- Selected carbon fiber composite routing applications
For carbon fiber and highly abrasive composites: Uncoated carbide can be suitable for some applications, but extended cutting in highly abrasive material may accelerate tool wear. For demanding production applications, consider a compatible diamond-coated router.

Feeds, Speeds and Tool Handling
Refer to our Chip Breaker Router Feed & Speed Chart → for general machining recommendations.
The chart includes a specific entry for 0.80mm (.0315") chip breaker routers. Published cutting parameters are intended as starting points and should be adjusted according to the CNC machine, spindle runout, material, workholding, cutting depth, and tool condition.
For best results, use rigid workholding, minimal tool runout, controlled cutting engagement, and appropriate spindle speeds. Avoid excessive lateral loading or aggressive plunging that could damage this small-diameter cutter.
Sold individually. Price is per router bit.
