0.1250" (1/8") x .500" LOC Down-Cut Single O-Flute Carbide End Mill, 1/8" Shank

This 1/8" down-cut single O-flute carbide end mill features a 0.1250" (1/8") cutting diameter, .500" length of cut, 1.50" overall length, and a standard 1/8" shank. It is designed for precision CNC routing, profiling, slotting, and trimming in plastics, laminates, and suitable non-ferrous materials.

The single O-flute geometry is especially well suited for cutting acrylic, plastic, PVC, ABS, HDPE, polycarbonate, and other softer materials. It may also be used in aluminum and suitable non-ferrous materials when proper feeds, speeds, chip clearing, and workholding are used.

The down-cut design pushes cutting forces and chips downward, which can help reduce top-edge lifting, chipping, or fraying. This makes it useful when a clean top surface is important, especially in plastics, laminates, sheet materials, and CNC inlay-type work.

Important setup note: Down-cut tools push chips downward into the cut instead of lifting them out. Use proper chip clearing, conservative pass depth, secure workholding, and appropriate feeds and speeds to reduce heat buildup, recutting, chatter, or tool breakage.

Typical Applications

  • Acrylic and plastic machining
  • PVC, ABS, HDPE, and polycarbonate cutting
  • Laminates and sheet materials where top-edge finish is important
  • Signmaking and plastic fabrication
  • CNC inlay and detail routing
  • Aluminum routing and milling when properly set up
  • Suitable non-ferrous material cutting
  • Profiling, slotting, and contouring

Benefits

  • Single O-flute design supports efficient cutting in plastics and softer materials
  • Down-cut geometry helps improve top-edge finish by pushing cutting forces downward
  • Useful when reducing top-surface chipping, lifting, or fraying is important
  • O-flute geometry provides large flute volume for chip clearance
  • .500" LOC provides useful cutting reach for profiles, slots, and trimming work
  • Square end geometry is suitable for slotting, profiling, trimming, and general routing work
  • Solid carbide construction provides rigidity and wear resistance
  • Standard 1/8" shank fits many compact CNC routers and precision collet setups
