This Kyocera 1.80mm (.0709") chip breaker carbide PCB router features a .300" (7.62mm) length of cut, drill-point tip, up-cut spiral, 1/8" shank, and 1.50" overall length. Made from solid tungsten carbide, it is designed for precision routing of FR-4, G10, fiberglass, phenolic laminates, and other rigid composite materials.
The spiral chip breaker geometry uses interrupted cutting edges to break chips into smaller fragments. Combined with the up-cut spiral, this helps promote efficient chip evacuation and reduce debris accumulation during routing.
Chip Breaker Geometry and Drill-Point Tip
- Spiral chip breaker: Helps control chip formation and reduce debris buildup.
- Up-cut spiral: Directs chips upward and away from the cutting zone.
- Drill-point tip: Provides pointed entry geometry for controlled plunging under appropriate cutting conditions.
- .300" LOC: Provides 7.62mm of cutting length for board profiling, slots, and routing rigid composite materials.
- Solid carbide: Provides rigidity and wear resistance when machining abrasive laminates.
The drill-point configuration is useful for routing operations requiring controlled entry into the workpiece. Use suitable plunge feeds, rigid workholding, and minimal spindle runout to help prevent tool damage.
For a fish-tail alternative at the same diameter, consider our R161 1.80mm Chip Breaker Router, which features a .315" LOC.

Typical Applications
- PCB outline routing and circuit board profiling
- FR-4 and G10 fiberglass laminates
- Phenolic laminate cutting
- Precision slots and internal PCB contours
- Routing rigid fiberglass and composite sheets
- Controlled plunge-entry applications
Carbon fiber and highly abrasive materials: Extended machining of abrasive composites may accelerate wear on uncoated carbide. For demanding production applications, consider a suitable diamond-coated router.
