Kyocera 0.0360" Diamond-Flute PCB Router | Drill Point | Up-Cut | Solid Carbide
The R113 diamond-flute carbide router features a 0.0360" cutting diameter, 0.170" length of cut (LOC), and standard 1/8" shank. Manufactured by Kyocera, this precision router is designed for machining PCB laminates, FR4/G10 fiberglass, phenolic materials, and other abrasive composites.
Its diamond-pattern cutting geometry combines numerous small, intersecting cutting edges with an up-cut configuration and a drill-point tip. This combination makes the tool useful for precision PCB profiling, slots, internal cutouts, and routing operations requiring plunge entry.
Key Features
- 0.0360" cutting diameter: Small cutting width for precision PCB outlines, slots, and detailed contours
- 0.170" LOC: Approximately 4.32mm of cutting length for suitable sheet and laminate thicknesses
- Diamond-flute geometry: Fine, intersecting cutting edges for controlled routing of fiberglass-reinforced materials
- Drill-point tip: Designed to facilitate direct plunge entry under suitable machining conditions
- Up-cut direction: Supports upward movement of cutting debris during routing
- Solid tungsten carbide: Provides rigidity and resistance to abrasive wear
- 1/8" shank: Fits compatible CNC spindle collets and precision tool holders
Diamond-Flute Geometry & Drill-Point Tip
Diamond-flute routers, also called diamond-cut or diamond-pattern routers, feature a fine cross-cut arrangement of cutting edges. This geometry is commonly used in PCB fabrication and composite machining, where controlled material removal and reduced edge damage are important.
Unlike a fishtail router, the R113 features a drill-point tip. This tip is intended to facilitate entry into suitable workpieces when starting internal cutouts, slots, and other routing operations.
The 0.170" cutting length provides a relatively short cutting section for small-diameter precision routing. Select a flute length appropriate for the material thickness and provide adequate clearance when through-cutting.
Important: Diamond-flute describes the cutting geometry. This tool is uncoated solid carbide, not diamond-coated or PCD tooling.
Typical Applications
- PCB routing, board outlines, and internal cutouts
- FR4 and G10 fiberglass laminate machining
- Phenolic and epoxy laminate cutting
- Fiberglass-reinforced plastic and composite trimming
- Carbon-fiber composites where standard carbide tooling is suitable
- Precision CNC slots, profiling, and prototype fabrication

Feeds & Speeds
Proper spindle speed, feed rate, cutting depth, and secure workholding are especially important when using small-diameter carbide routers in PCB laminates and abrasive composites.
View Diamond-Flute Router Feed & Speed Chart for starting recommendations when cutting FR4, G10, fiberglass, and PCB materials.
Recommended cutting parameters are starting points only. Adjust for material, spindle capability, machine rigidity, workholding, and tool diameter. Avoid excessive cutting loads and use appropriate dust extraction when machining fiberglass or carbon fiber.
