The R112 diamond-flute carbide router features a 0.0394" (1.00mm) cutting diameter, 0.315" (8.00mm) length of cut, and standard 1/8" (3.175mm) shank. Manufactured by Kyocera, this precision CNC router is designed for machining PCB laminates, FR4/G10 fiberglass, phenolic materials, and other abrasive composites.

Its extended 0.315" cutting length provides additional reach for routing and profiling suitable thicker workpieces. The diamond-pattern cutting geometry features numerous small, intersecting cutting edges, while the drill-point tip facilitates direct plunge entry under appropriate cutting conditions.

Extended Cutting Length & Drill-Point Tip

Compared with shorter routers of the same diameter, R112 provides additional usable cutting length for routing thicker PCB laminates and composite workpieces. The longer cutting section also requires careful feed-rate selection, secure workholding, and control of cutting forces to reduce the risk of tool deflection or breakage.

The drill-point tip is designed to facilitate entry into the workpiece when starting slots, internal contours, and other routing operations. Plunge performance depends on the material, machine rigidity, and selected cutting conditions.

Diamond-flute routers, also known as diamond-cut or diamond-pattern routers, use numerous intersecting cutting edges for controlled material removal in abrasive and layered materials.

Important: Diamond-flute describes the cutting geometry. This is uncoated solid carbide tooling, not a diamond-coated or PCD router.

Proper spindle speed, feed rate, depth of cut, and secure workholding are particularly important when using small-diameter carbide routers with extended cutting lengths.

These values are starting points only. Because R112 has a relatively long cutting section for its 1.00mm diameter, use conservative cutting loads, test on scrap material, and adjust for machine rigidity, spindle speed, workholding, and material thickness. Use appropriate dust extraction when machining fiberglass and carbon fiber.
